Jul 13,  · referencing (Turn It Over), LP, Album, Pit, Hot trash audio, blinding speed, atonality, ruthless ripping performances -- forget that Stooges crap guys, this is the first punk album. Everyone prefers the first Lifetime record but this is the one for me, shorter songs being easier to listen to and packing more concentrated power besides/5().

Jan 17,  · The better of the two albums the Tony Williams Lifetime recorded in , Turn It Over, is a far more focused and powerful album than the loose, experimental Ego, and one of the more intense pieces of early jazz-rock fusion tiosurbacknimare.pingpalliridigarariccaconbale.co parts, it's like Jimi Hendrix's Band of Gypsys with much better chops. It's more rock-oriented and darker-hued than their debut, 's Emergency!, and the 8/

This isn't as good as the first LP by Lifetime. Jack Bruce's vocals are funny. Larry Young shines on his showpiece tune. McLaughlin rips as always. Williams, well, is Tony Williams. Masterful!! But the tunes aren't as good. The recording quality is much better than the first release. It is a another standard bearer in the realm of fusion/5(41).

The Tony Williams Lifetime debut effort, Emergency!, is a must have recording for any student of jazz-fusion, it's a spectacular CD that pretty much set the agenda for those who followed. Consider the line-up, Tony Williams, drum vunderkind and virtuoso, John McLaughlin, guitar prodigy, and Larry Young, an innovative organist with a particular /5(38).
  6. Vokus says:
"Fresh on the heels of their electrifying debut album "Emergency!", the TONY WILLIAMS LIFETIME returned the following year with "Turn It Over", a dark and uncromprimising nine song broadside aimed squarely at the Jazz establishment". This quote was taken from the liner notes.4/5(4).

The Tony Williams Lifetime was founded in as a power trio with John McLaughlin on electric guitar, and Larry Young on organ. The band was possibly named for Williams' debut album as a bandleader, Life Time, released on Blue Note in Its debut album was Emergency!, a double album released on Polydor/PolyGram Records in
